2025 USAU College Championships

Each year, hundreds of college ultimate teams strive to compete in conference and regional championship events with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the College Championships. Inspired by the fervor of my own college ultimate team's journey to qualify, I've decided to design a new brand identity for the 2025 USAU College Championships, envisioning the championships taking place in the city of Boston.

Boston offers a ton of visual elements that make it an ideal location for creating a brand. With its rich history, iconic landmarks, modern skyscrapers, and picturesque waterfront, the city provides ample inspiration for creating a compelling brand identity for the 2025 USAU College Championships.

My approach began with extensive research, drawing inspiration from the diverse typography seen across the city, the unique architectural landmarks, and the captivating natural landscapes. Using these as inspiration, I crafted numerous sketches, exploring various design iterations that establish a strong connection between the event and its location.

The bold orange in the color palette is inspired by Boston's historical buildings but is intensified for a more modern take, while the blue hues reflect the city's waterfront. The patterns are inspired by the ocean waves, the light coming from the lighthouse, and the dynamic motion lines of a flying disc.

The ultimate logo design embodies themes of strength and resilience, reflecting the essence of Ultimate. It seamlessly incorporates iconic elements of Boston, such as the renowned lighthouse and flowing waves, paying tribute to the city's waterfront.

Furthermore, it's important that this logo offers versatility for various applications. The secondary logo is specifically tailored for use on official game discs, while the wordmark variation offers a simplified yet impactful design.
